My name is Connie,
and I like to build and design!
I finished my B.S. in bioengineering with a minor in mechanical engineering at UC Berkeley.
I’ve had internships working in bioprocessing, diagnostics research, and surgical instrumentation. (click on the pictures for more info)
From such diverse experiences, I’ve learned a lot about:
- Iterative prototyping
- Design for manufacturing and assembly
- CAD + GD&T (SolidWorks and CATIA: 100+ hours each)
- FMEA risk analysis
- Selection of [biocompatible] materials
- FDA regulation for 510(k), QSR, GMP
Most importantly, I’ve learned that my passion lies in the medical device field: specifically, the exploration of how engineering can augment the human body.
So if you’re looking for an engineer interested in medical device design, contact me!
My class projects at Cal have taught me useful engineering skills for that intended career path:
But I’ve also taught myself a lot of skills outside of class: AutoCAD, Autodesk Fusion 360, Adobe Creative Suite, and CNC machining to name a few.
I enjoy building projects outside of the classroom without deadlines to worry about. In fact, I’m a featured author on instructables.com! I’ve posted 97 projects that have won 38 contests and attracted ~1.6 million views.
Not all my projects are engineering-related. Plus I don’t build all day (although whether I wish I could is another topic). I also ran throughout my undergrad!
Besides building and running, I…
- Helped out in a robotics club focused on outreach to high schoolers
- Led physics tutoring for the 8000+ students in UC Berkeley’s Residence Halls
- Taught Intro to Berkeley Engineering as a member of Tau Beta Pi (engineering honor society)
… as well as burn bake cookies, read epic fantasy books, and continually update this website so that people would want to hire me.
