about
In my Designing for the Human Body course, my team (Handy Solutions) selected a 3D printable hand from thingiverse.com to optimize in the context of functionality despite the handicaps of 3D printing. We designed as series of experiments (picking up, grabbing, holding, typing, etc.) to assess the original functions available before brainstorming ways we could redesign the prosthetic. Simplified biomechanical analysis of static loading was calculated to understand loads in the joint area. Modeling was done in both SolidWorks and Autodesk Fusion 360.
